EZBIS Connection to North Carolina HealthConnex

North Carolina HealthConnex

EZBIS is pleased to announce that after extensive development and testing, the EZBIS connection to North Carolina HealthConnex is now available.

The EZBIS connection to North Carolina HealthConnex fulfills the requirements for North Carolina providers for submission of patient health data. As we have communicated before, submission of health information to HealthConnex is mandated by the state of North Carolina by January 1, 2023 in order to continue to receive claim reimbursement for all state-funded health plans including Medicaid, the NC State Health Plan (SHP) and others. Additionally, Health Network Solutions (HNS) requires all HNS members to participate and submit health information to HealthConnex regardless of whether providers receive funds from state funded health plans or not.

While January 1, 2023 seems far in the future, it is important to initiate connectivity to HealthConnex as soon as possible. Every healthcare provider in the state of North Carolina has the same deadline and there will a scramble to connect all providers in advance of the deadline. EZBIS users will also need to become familiar with the process for entering health information in the EZBIS Electronic Health Records system. So, please do not delay. Important ICD-10 change for chiropractors

The 2022 changes to the ICD-10 code list takes effect this coming October 1, 2021. This year, an important change is made for one of the most common diagnosis codes for chiropractors. M54.5 – Low back pain is removed form the ICD-10 code list and replaced with codes that are more specific:

  • New Code: M54.50 Low back pain, unspecified. This includes Loin pain and Lumbago NOS.
  • New Code: M54.51 Vertebrogenic low back pain, Low back vertebral endplate pain
  • New Code: M54.59 Other low back pain
  • M54.8 Other dorsalgia. Revise low back pain (M54.5) to low back pain (M54.5-)

Claims filed after October 1, 2021 should use the new codes in place of M54.5.

Downloadable updates are available for EZBIS users with versions 12.0 and 12.1. EZBIS users with older versions (less than 12.0) will need to purchase an update for their EZBIS software. Call (800) 445-7816, option 4 for more information.

Online Scheduling for Patients

Patients can now see the available appointment times using a computer, phone or tablet and schedule their own appointments. The appointments appear in the EZBIS Front Desk schedule automatically!

Week View of the Appointment Schedule

Besides the existing Book View, Ledger View and Calendar View, there is a new "Week" view, where you can see the entire week at a glance for any provider. In this view you can even schedule appointments or perform any other task that is available in the other views.

Family Payments

Now you can create group family members together and when they are treated on the same day, a single payment can be entered and the appropriate amounts applied to each family member. This is especially useful for credit card payments, by used with any type of payment.
